
2021 Parliament Monsoon Session 2021 Live Coverage: The monsoon session of the Parliament took off with a rocky start. While new MPs take oath in both the houses, PM Narendra Modi introduced his new council in Lok Sabha amid opposition’s uproar. This forced the PM to launch a scathing attack on the opposition benches. “I thought that there would be enthusiasm in the Parliament as so many women, Dalits, tribals have become Ministers. This time our colleagues from agricultural and rural background, OBC community, have been given berth in Council of Ministers….Perhaps some people are not happy if country’s women, OBCs, farmers’ sons become Ministers. That is why they don’t even allow their introduction,” said PM Modi. However, the lower house was adjourned till 2pm due to the chaos. On the other hand, the upper house was adjourned till 12.24 pm after the house paid tributes to MPs and personalities who lost their live this year including actor Dilip Kumar.
Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge has already informed that the Congress party has given notice on inflation while others have given on farmers’ issues. “We will see what is approved by the Business Advisory Committee. We will be raising the same issues,” said Kharge. Congress MP KC Venugopal has given a notice under rule 267 in Rajya Sabha to suspend the business and discuss the rise in price of fuel and essential commodities. He also demanded immediate remedial measures to be taken by the Government. Congress Lok Sabha MP Manish Tewari, Congress MP Jasbir Singh Gill, Aam Adami Party (AAP) Lok Sabha MP Bhagwant Mann, CPI(M) MPs Elamaram Kareem and Dr V Sivadasan have given adjournment motion notice over Central Government’s Farm Laws. During the session, the issue of an international media consortium report would find echo in the two Houses. It claimed that over 300 verified mobile phone numbers, including of two serving ministers, over 40 journalists, three opposition leaders and one sitting judge besides scores of business persons and activists, could have been targeted for hacking through an Israeli spyware sold only to government agencies. The opposition would use it to target the government as some of the members have decided to gives notices of adjournment motion to discuss the matter on the floor of the House.
